Lentenor Entered to Run Feb. 17 in Florida
Lentenor, the 3-year-old full brother to 2006 Kentucky Derby Presented By Yum! Brands (gr. I) and Florida Derby (gr. I) winner Barbaro, has been entered in the eighth race Feb. 17 at Gulfstream Park in South Florida. Bred and owned by Roy and Gretchen Jackson and campaigned in the name of their Lael Stables, Lentenor will compete in a 1 1/8-mile allowance event on turf with a purse of $48,000. He is scheduled to face a field of 12 runners and will break from the No. 7 post position. The race is for 3-year-olds that have never won a race other than maiden, claiming, or starter or that have never won two races. Lentenor will be ridden by John Velazquez, who guided the bay colt to his first career win in his 2010 debut Jan. 20 at Gulfstream. Lentenor broke his maiden by 3 1/2 lengths in a 1 1/16-mile event on grass (VIDEO). Last year, Lentenor finished third at seven furlongs over Keeneland’s synthetic Polytrack surface and second in a 1 1/16-mile grass race at Aqueduct.
