Susan Osborne’s Desert Code, winner of the 2008 Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint at Oak Tree at Santa Anita, has been retired from racing for stallion duty. A decision has not been reached as to where he will enter stud.

"We've received offers from foreign breeders, but want to keep him here in the United States, preferably in California," said trainer David Hofmans. "He's here with me at Santa Anita."

A stakes winner in three of his four years of racing, Desert Code won or placed in 13 of 24 starts and earned $1,088,939.

Racing for Osborne’s Tarabilla Farms, Desert Code came from way back to win the Turf Sprint at about 6 1/2 furlongs. Twelfth of 14 after the first quarter-mile and 10th with a furlong to run, Desert Code got up to win by a half-length at the rich odds of 36-1.

Desert Code, who won or placed in a total of 10 stakes, also won the 2009 Daytona Handicap (gr. IIIT), the 2008 Joe Hernandez Stakes on grass, and the 2007 Affirmed Handicap (gr. III) and Baldwin Stakes (gr. IIIT).

By E Dubai  , 6-year-old Desert Code is a half-brother to stakes winners Forest Code and Soul Onarazorsedge and is out of the stakes-winning Lost Code mare Chatta Code.
