Stakes winner Grand Minstrel has been retired from racing and will enter stud at Linda Wood’s Menoken Farms near Montrose, Colo. The 5-year-old son of Grand Slam will stand for a partnership for $1,500.
At 2, Grand Minstrel captured the Capote Stakes by five lengths at Aqueduct. For his career, he won or placed in seven of 11 races and earned $123,546.
Grand Minstrel is out of the grade II stakes-winning Pleasant Colony mare Colonial Minstrel and is a half-brother to stakes winner Storm Minstrel and stakes-placed Ziegfeld. His second dam is Irish champion Minstrella. Grand Minstrel is from the same female family as Horse of the Year Saint Liam.
