The owner and trainer of Ledge's Monarchos, fourth-place finisher in the Dec. 19, 2009 Gowell Stakes at Turfway Park, has been suspended 30 days after the now 3-year-old filly tested positive for the prohibited Class B substance Clenbuterol.
According to the Association of Racing Commissioners International database, trainer Ben T. Mumaw was suspended from Jan. 4-Feb. 2 after he waived a formal hearing before the stewards.
Ledger’s Monarchos finished fourth at 72-1 odds in the Gowell, rounding out a $2 Superfecta wager that returned $26,815.
According to Equineline, Mumaw had 175 wins from 1,989 starters between 1986 and Jan. 2 of this year.
