Post Positions for Beverly D., Secretariat

The Simon Bray-trained Astra has been made the 8-5 morning line favorite for Saturday's $700,000 Beverly D. Handicap (gr. IT) on Arlington Million Day after drawing post 7 on Wednesday. A total of nine fillies and mares will go postward in the 1 3/16-mile race.

Astra, bred by Allen Paulson and owned by the Allen Paulson Living Trust, same as Million favorite Hap, is two-for-two this year, having won the Santa Barbara Handicap (gr. IIT) and Beverly Hills Handicap (gr. IT). Kent Desormeaux will be aboard the daughter of Theatrical in the Beverly D.

England's Legent, trained by Christophe Clement was made the 5-1 second choice. The daughter of two-time Breeders' Cup Mile (gr. IT) winner Lure will break from post eight and will be ridden by Corey Nakatani.

In the $400,000 Secretariat Stakes (gr. IT) for 3-year-olds at 1 1/4-miles, Sharp Performance was made the 4-1 morning line favorite after drawing post 8 in the 12-horse field. Trained by David Donk, Sharp Performance will be ridden by Chris McCarron.

Strut the Stage (5-1), Mizzen Mast (6-1), and Navesink (6-1) follow in the morning line odds that show there is no clear-cut favorite for the Secretariat.
