Verne Winchell's Fleet Renee, winner of the grade I Ashland and Mother Goose Stakes, will not run in Saturday's $750,000 Alabama Stakes (gr. I) at Saratoga.
"She's fine, she's just not running," said trainer Michael Dickinson. "We'll pick out another spot and then the Breeders' Cup (World Thoroughbred Championships, Belmont Park, Oct. 27)."
Fleet Renee was supposed to have a rematch with Flute, who beat Fleet Renee in the Kentucky Oaks (gr. I) by nearly six lengths. Flute won a 1 1/8-mile allowance race at Saratoga during the first week of the meet in her first start since the Oaks on May 4.
In addition to Flute, top being pointed toward the 1 1/4-mile Alabama include Coaching Club American Oaks (gr. I) winner Tweedside, Black-Eyed Susan (gr. II) winner Two Item Limit, and Real Cozzy.
