Dogwood Stables announced the retirement of graded stakes winner Gone Fishin (by Honor Grades). No stud plans were announced for the 5-year-old horse....The Oklahoma Thoroughbred Association honored its 2000 OTA champions and Oklahoma-bred champions at an Aug. 10 banquet. No Lak of Speed, 2-year-old filly; Rockchalk Jayhawk, 2-year-old colt or gelding; Fastybutnasty, 3-year-old filly; Easter Keeper, 3-year-old colt or gelding; Voladora, older filly or mare; Mr Ross horse of the year and older colt or gelding; Up in Time, turf; Findaway, sprinter; No No Danielle, broodmare of the year. The Oklahoma-bred winners were: No Lak of Speed, 2-year-old filly; Champagne Holiday, 2-year-old colt or gelding; Getem Hoochie, 3-year-old filly; Is it Secret, 3-year-old colt or gelding; Sea of Truth, older mare; Mr Ross older horse; Slewacide leading sire; No No Danielle leading broodmare; Lazy E Ranch, leading owner of sires; Oklahoma Option, Fair Meets; Sam's Country Blue mixed meet; No Lak of Speed, racing stock; Willow Ridge Farms leading owner; Willow Ridge Farm, leading breeder; and No Lak of Speed state bred of year. ...Tammy Gantt, current director of promotions at Calder Race Course has added the title of director of group sales to her resume. Gantt has headed up the promotions department since joining Calder in 1999. ...Ellis Park in western Kentucky has raised purses for overnight races by 9%, effective immediately. Daily purses will now average $219,850, a record, for all programs with 10 or more races. Earlier in August, the track raised purses 5%. General manager Paul Kuerzi said strong on-track attendance and handle figures fueled the increases.
