Song, an unraced 3-year-old Sadler's Wells mare and a full sister to two group I winners, was bought for 1,700,000 guineas (US $2.96 million) by Paul Makin through Grant Pritchard-Gordon of Badgers BloodstockBadgers Bloodstock during the Dec. 1 second session of the Tattersalls December mares sale at the Newmarket, England sales company’s Park Paddocks.

Consigned by Bugley Stud, Song was sold in foal to Danehill Dancer. Song, who was bred in Ireland by Premier Bloodstock, is out of the Darshaan mare Jude, who is a half-sister to English champion Alleluia (by Caerleon) and a full sister to dual champion producer Alouette.

Makin, an Australian owner/breeder who raced 2005 Barclays PLC Queen Elizabeth II Stakes (Eng-I) winner Starcraft, indicated Song would head for Rory Mahon's Mountain View Stud in Ireland and would be mated with the recently retired six-time group I-winning European champion Sea the Stars.

Song’s sister, Yesterday, won the 2003 Entenmanns Irish One Thousand Guineas (Ire-I), while another sister, Quarter Moon, scored in the 2001 Moyglare Stud Stakes (Ire-I) en route to being highweighted in Ireland that year.
