Lahaleeb, a grade I-winning filly offered as a racing prospect, fetched a bid of 1,000,000 guineas (US$1.72 million) from John Egan during the Nov. 30 first session of the Tattersalls December mares sale at the Newmarket, England sales company’s Park Paddocks.
The filly, who won this year’s E.P. Taylor Stakes (Can-I), was consigned by the West Ilsley Stables of her trainer, Mick Channon. Racing for Mohammed Al-Qatami and K Al-Mudhaf, Lahsleeb has won five of 16 starts, with converted earnings of $888,157. In addition to her E.P. Taylor upset at 44-1 odds, the Irish-bred daughter of Redback group II Countrywide Steel & Tubes Rockfel Stakes and group III Fred Darling Dubai Duty Free Stakes.
Produced from the Blushing Flame mare Flames, Lahaleeb is a half-sister to stakes winner Precocious Star. The filly’s female family also includes group I winners Virtual, Entrepreneur, and Exclusive.
