In his turf debut, Lentenor  , the 2-year-old full brother to 2006 Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands (gr. I) winner Barbaro, came close but had to settle for second behind upset winner On Vacation in a maiden special weight race at Aqueduct Nov. 28 (VIDEO).

Making just his second lifetime start, Roy and Gretchen Jackson's homebred was sent off as the second choice at odds of 5-2. Lentenor bobbled at the start from post 5 and raced in sixth position in the 1 1/16-mile event over a turf course labeled "good."

With Jose Lezcano aboard, the Dynaformer colt out of the Carson City mare La Ville Rouge, saved ground before encountering traffic rounding the turn. Lezcano swung Lentenor three wide at the quarter pole and had dead aim at On Vacation in the stretch. But after Lentenor inched closer on leader's outside, On Vacation, with Kent Desormeaux aboard, edged clear in the final few strides for a half-length win.

Lentenor completed an $83.50 exacta with the Bill Mott-trained On Vacation, who paid $18.40 to win while timed in 1:45.92. The runner-up finished a half-length ahead of Remittance in third. Imaging, the 7-5 favorite in the field of 10, finished fourth.

Trained by Michael Matz, Lentenor made his debut over Keeneland's Polytrack Oct. 31, finishing third.
