The win by Pharmstar marked a double for Centaur Farms and trainer Ralph Ziadie. The owner and trainer teamed up to win the same division last year with a half-sister to Pharmstar, Valid Forbes, winning the 2000 edition of the race.

The open division, with 18 entries, was split into two $75,000, six-furlong races, with Carey's Gold and O'Rocky winning decisively.

Pharmstar, ridden by Cornelio Velasquez, finished in 1:12.80 and paid $5.40, $2.80, and $2.60. Blissful Kiss returned $2.40 and $2.20, and Be Silver paid $4.40.

O'Rocky, ridden by Horacio Karamanos, beat Concorde's Appeal by 2 3/4 lengths in the first race in the open division. O'Rocky, finished in 1:13.50 and paid $22.40, $9.40, and $5. Concorde's Appeal returned $4.60 and $3.60, and Valid Action paid $6.60.

Carey's Gold, ridden by Roger Velez, led wire-to-wire in the open division's second race, beating Royal Lad by two lengths. Carey's Gold finished in 1:13.56 and paid $10.80, $5.60, and $4.20. Royal Lad returned $6.20 and $6.20, and Bog Hunter paid $6.40.
