A weanling filly and two stallion prospects brought final bids of $50,000 each to headline the Nov. 20 session of the Keeneland November breeding stock sale. 
 
Stoney Lane Farm paid $50,000 for a weanling filly from the first crop of Half Ours   out of the unraced Meadowlake mare Fine Prospect. A half-sister to stakes-placed runner Big Cat Walks Late (by Stormy Atlantic  ), she was consigned by Baccari Bloodstock, agent. 
 
Sudan, winner of the Gran Premio di Milano (Ity-I) and Golden Gate Fields Turf (gr. IIIT), was purchased for $50,000 by Marcel Zarour. Consigned by Three Chimneys Sales, agent, Sudan is a 6-year-old son of Peintre Celebre out of the Woodman mare Sarabande. He was sold as a stallion prospect. 
 
Jason Hall, agent, went to $50,000 for the 4-year-old stakes-winning Grand Minstrel, consigned by Lane’s End, agent, as a racing or stallion prospect. He is by Grand Slam   out of multiple graded stakes winner Colonial Minstrel
           
For the day, Keeneland sold 233 horses for $1,778,400, down 40.6% from a year ago when 230 horses brought $2,993,700. Average price of $7,633 decreased 41.36% from last year’s average of $13,016. The median price of $5,000 was down 50% from the $10,000 posted in 2008.
 
With two days of the auction remaining, Keeneland has sold 2,494 horses for $157,728,400, down 11.82% from the corresponding period in 2008 when 2,229 horses brought $178,869,000. The average of $63,243 represents a 21.19% decrease from $80,246 in 2008. The median was down 22.58% from $31,000 in 2008 to $24,000 this year.
