Japan Cup Winner Golden Pheasant to China

Millionaire Golden Pheasant, who won the 1991 Japan Cup (Jpn-I) and began his stud career in Japan, will be sent to China for stallion duty at Long Tou Farm near Beijing. Long Tou Farm was founded last year by Japanese horseman Isamu Ishida, who also has imported stallions such as Thrill Show and Mejiro Ardan from Japan.

Golden Pheasant, who currently is at Lex Stud in Japan, was purchased by Japanese breeder/owner Zenya Yoshida after he won the Japan Cup for Bruce McNall and Wayne Gretzky. Golden Pheasant (Caro--Perfect Pigeon, by Round Table) raced in North America in 1992, then began his stallion career at the Yoshida family's Shadai Stallion Station in 1993.

Fifteen-year-old Golden Pheasant, whose other major wins included a victory in the 1990 Arlington Million (gr. IT), is the sire of one stakes winner, Tokio Excellent
