Artie Schiller Filly Paces Keeneland Sale

A weanling filly by Artie Schiller   sold for $90,000 to Bare Stable to highlight the Nov. 18 session of Keeneland’s November Breeding Stock Sale.
 
Consigned by Elise W. Kendall, agent, the filly is out of La Prevoyante Stakes (gr. IIT) winner Love a Ruckus, by Bold Ruckus.
 
Rob McDonald paid the day’s second-highest price of $75,000 for Alfred G. Vanderbilt Handicap (gr. II) winner Abraaj, sold as stallion prospect. By Carson City out of the Kris S. mare Kris’s Intention, Abraaj is a full brother to Kentucky Cup (gr. III) winner and sire Leelanau and a half-brother to stakes winner All Trumps. Abraaj was consigned by Shadwell Farm LLC.

Keeneland sold 236 horses for $3,336,700 during the session, down 38.16% from the corresponding session in 2008 when 232 horses brought $5,395,500. Average price decreased 39.20% from $23,256 to $14,139. The median of $10,000 was down 33.33% from last year’s $15,000.

Through nine days, a total of 2,022 horses have been sold for $153,696,100, a decrease of 11.31% from last year’s $173,294,800 when 1,821 horses were sold. The average of $76,012 is down 20.13% from $95,165 in 2008, while the median of $32,000 decreased 25.58% from $43,000.

Polo Green Stables, agent, purchased Secret Brook, a stakes-placed daughter of Montbrook, for $70,000 on Nov. 18. The 6-year-old mare, sold in foal to Seeking the Dia, is out of the stakes-winning Argos Appeal, by World Appeal. Consigned by Hill ‘n’ Dale Sales Agency, agent, Secret Brook is a half-sister to stakes winner Special Report.
