Gross Increases at Arqana Autumn Sale

The Arqana autumn sale enjoyed upswings of 15.1% in gross revenue and 7.5% in average price Nov. 16 in France. Najaf, a 4-year-old son of Lost Worldbrought the top price of €250,000 ($374,060 in U.S. funds) from Highflyer Bloodstock.

Produced from the Saint Estephe mare Vagualame, Lost World, who didn’t begin his racing career until this year, captured the Prix Guillaume de Pracomtal Hurdle Handicap. Trained by Richard Chotard, he also finished second in the Prix Pierre de Lassus Hurdle and third in the Prix Renaud du Vivier Hurdle.

The gross was €2,353,500 ($3,521,401) for the 120 horses that sold. The average price was €19,613 ($29,346), and the clearance rate was 73.6%. The gross for private sales was €13,800 ($20,648).
