Birdstone's Fee Upped to $30,000
Birdstone , sire of two of the three United States classic winners this year, will stand in 2010 for $30,000, up from $10,000, at the Beck family’s Gainesway Farm near Lexington. Birdstone’s son Mine That Bird won the Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands (gr. I). Another son, Summer Bird , took the Belmont Stakes (gr. I). Gainesway upped the fee for Tapit to $50,000 from $35,000. Tapit’s daughter Tapitsfly, won the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf. Tapit’s other stakes winners this year include grade I winners Careless Jewel and Stardom Bound, the 2-year-old champion filly of 2008. Gainesway dropped the fee for Mr. Greeley.
