Roman Ruler , second on the first-crop sire’s list by progeny earnings, will stand for the same $20,000 fee that he stood for in 2009. He stands at John Sikura’s Hill ‘n’ Dale Farms near Lexington.
“Our objective is always to provide great value for our customers,” Sikura said. “We realize these are difficult times and have set our fees for 2010 accordingly. We believe the fees are extremely fair and will afford breeders a strong opportunity to be successful.”
Roman Ruler not only ranks in the second spot among first-year sires, but ranks third in the overall sires of 2-year-olds list. His progeny earnings are $1.2 million.
Hill ‘n’ Dale dropped the fee of successful sire Stormy Atlantic to $35,000 from $45,000. Stormy Atlantic ranks 13th on the general sires list, with progeny earnings of $5.9 million.
