Kera's Kitten, one of three horses entered in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf (gr. IIT) for owners Ken and Sarah Ramsey, has been scratched from the Nov. 7 World Championships card to make room for another of the couple's entrants.
As a result of Kera’s Kitten’s withdrawal, another Ramsey horse, Dean's Kitten, will draw into the body of the 12-horse field after being one of two also eligibles for the race. Kera’s Kitten and Dean’s Kitten are trained by Mike Maker. Also entered in the Juvenile Turf for the Ramseys is Becky's Kitten, trained by Wesley Ward.
"We would have been comfortable running either one of them, but were forced to pick," Maker said. "It was a tough call. Dean’s Kitten has more seasoning. He’s been running against better competition and we feel he’ll be better (than Kera’s Kitten) with the short turn around. We’re running the horse we feel gives us the best chance to win."
All three of the 2-year-old colts are offspring of the Ramsey’s hot young sire Kitten's Joy .
Dean’s Kitten will be ridden by Ramon Dominguez, who was aboard for the colt’s victory in the Vision Stakes on grass at Belmont Park.
