Forever Together, winner of last year’s $2-million Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Turf (gr. IT), is the 5-2 morning-line favorite to repeat in the event Nov. 6 at Santa Anita Park.
Owned by Augustin Stable, Forever Together, a 5-year-old Belong to Me mare, drew post two in a field of eight. Julien Leparoux, her regular rider, gets the call for trainer Jonathan Sheppard.
Forever Together finished second and third, respectively, in her last two starts as the heavy favorite. In her last start, the Oct. 10 First Lady Stakes (gr. IT) at Keeneland, she flew home from 20 lengths back at the half-mile call to lose by only 1 1/2 lengths.
Second choice at 3-1 from post four is David Bienstock, Paul Mandabach and Charles Winner’s Magical Fantasy, a 4-year-old Diesis filly who has done her best racing in California. Magical Fantasy, trained by Patrick Gallagher and to be ridden by Alex Solis, is two-for-two on the Santa Anita turf.
Juddmonte Farm’s Midday, in from Europe, is the 4-1 third choice from post six. Trained by Henry Cecil, the 3-year-old Oasis Dream filly won the group I Nassau Stakes in England and most recently finished a close third in the Prix de l’Opera (Fr-I) Oct. 4.
Thomas Queally, who rode Midday in all six of her 2009 starts, gets the call.
Listed a 15-1 is Maram, who won the 2008 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf at Santa Anita. In two starts this year versus 3-year-olds, Maram has closed well for a victory and a near-miss third in ungraded stakes in New York.
