Catienus  , a former New York leading sire, will stand in 2010 at Joe and Anne McMahon’s McMahon of Saratoga Thoroughbreds near Saratoga Springs, N.Y. Owned by Kenneth and Sarah Ramsey, the 15-year-old son of Storm Catstood at Ramsey Farm near Nicholasville, Ky.

Catienus has sired 20 stakes winners, including grade I winners Dawn of War and Precious Kitten, and the earners of $17.9 million. This year, his runners have earned nearly $2.8 million, which will place him second on the New York leading sire’s list.

McMahon of Saratoga Thoroughbreds is the second New York farm that Catienus will call home. After beginning his stallion career at Ramsey Farm, he stood a couple of seasons at Highcliff Farm near Delanson. He was the state’s leading sire in 2006.

Catienus, a stakes winner and grade I stakes-placed at Saratoga, is out of the graded stakes-placed Mr. Prospector mare Diamond City.
