Thewayyouare, a high-class performer at 2 in France, is being retired from racing to join the stallion team at Ashford Stud. The 4-year-old will become one of the few group I-winning sons of Kingmambo available to Kentucky breeders.
Campaigned by Sean Mulryan, Michael Tabor, Susan Magnier, and Derrick Smith, Thewayyouare won four of his five juvenile starts, including the Criterium International (Fr-I), Prix Thomas Bryon (Fr-III), and Criterium de Lyon-Prix Gan Eurocourtage. First trained by Andre Fabre, he was later conditioned by Aidan O’Brien.
Thewayyouare, who was bred in Kentucky by Barnett Enterprises, is by multiple group I winner and prominent sire Kingmambo and is out of the winning, group I stakes-placed Sadler's Wells mare Maryinsky.
Maryinsky is a half-sister to Better Than Honour, who was voted 2007 Kentucky Broodmare of the Year for producing consecutive Belmont Stakes (gr. I) winners in Jazil and Rags to Riches. In addition to Thewayyouare, Maryinsky is the dam of European champion 3-year-old filly Peeping Fawn (by Danehill).
A daughter of Kentucky Oaks (gr. I) winner Blush With Pride, Maryinsky is from the female family of numerous champions, including U.S. champion sprinter Aldebaran; Irish champions Malinowski; European champions Xaar and Chimes of Freedom; international champions Spinning World, El Gran Senor, and Try My Best; Italian championsSaddexand Blu Carillon; French champion Domedriver; and Australian champion racehorse and sire Redoute's Choice .
Thewayyouare’s 2010 fee will be set at a later date.
