Entries Being Accepted for Equine Art Show

Entries are now being accepted for “Horsing Around With the Arts,” the National Museum of Racing’s annual juried student art show.
The program, now in its 16th year, consists of two shows that open in 2010: grades 3-7 Feb. 26, and grades 8-12 April 2.

A photograph of each equine-themed artwork must accompany the signed entry form.The forms are available at the Museum’s Web site: www.racingmuseum.org under Education, Art & Photography. Only one entry per student. No collaborative entries will be accepted. Please do not submit the actual artwork until contacted by the museum. Artwork may not be picked up or returned until the exhibit closes.
The deadline for submissions of the photograph and entry form for grades 3-7 is 5 p.m. Jan. 1. For grades 8-12, the deadline is 5 p.m. March 5.
Media: Painting, drawing, sculpture, ceramics and textiles will be accepted. No photographs or computer-altered imagery is permitted. Please check with Wheaton before using unusual organic materials, such as straw.
Size: Including frames, two-dimensional entries may be no larger than 30 inches high or wide.Three-dimensional entries must fit on a tabletop or pedestal.
A committee will jury all entries and select artwork for the show, which will then be judged. Prizes to be awarded: $50 Savings Bond - Best Thoroughbred Racing Image for each show: $50 Savings Bond – first place in each grade.
