Grade I winner and two-time track record setter Idiot Proof has been retired from racing and will enter stud at Ballena Vista Farm in Ramona, CA for the 2010 breeding season. His fee will be $1,500.

A California-bred son of Benchmark out of Perfectly Pretty (by Bertrando), Idiot Proof won five of 17 starts, with five seconds and two thirds, and earned $1,294,484. Trained throughout most of his career by Clifford Sise, the 5-year-old horse raced for his breeders, Mr. and Mrs. Martin J. Wygod.

During his career, Idiot Proof set two new track records. He set the track record for six furlongs in 1:07.57 while winning the 2007 Ancient Title (gr. I) at Oak Tree at Santa Anita and ran the same distance in record time of 1:07.47 in the Jersey Shore Breeders’ Cup Stakes (gr. III). His career-best Beyer Speed Rating of 113 came in the Jersey Shore.

In addition to those stake triumphs, Idiot Proof ran second in the 2007 TVG Breeders’ Cup Sprint (gr. I) and 2008 Gulf News Dubai Golden Shaheen (UAE-I), as well as placing in five other stakes during his career.
