Galileo Colt Tops Day 1 of Tattersalls Sale
(Edited Tattersalls release) A son of champion stallion Galileo was sold for 550,000 guineas to top the opening day of Europe's premier yearling sale, the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale Book 1. The Oct. 6 session saw strong trade with 151 lots sold for 16,840,000 guineas, at an average of 111,523 guineas and a median of 80,000 guineas. Denis Brosnan’s Croom House Stud consigned lot 118, the bay colt by Galileo out of the Darshaan mare Tadkiyra, whose progeny include the group I Phoenix Stakes winner Damson and the group winning filly Geminiani. Interest in the colt came initially from bloodstock agents Richard Brown and Charlie Gordon-Watson, as well as from Crispin de Moubray, but the trio were soon overtaken by Robert Ogden, standing alongside John Warren and John Magnier, with the latter triumphant at 550,000 guineas. It was a successful day for the Limerick nursery, having also consigned the 220,000 guineas Dansili colt out of Tyranny, who was also purchased by the Coolmore supremo.]
