Jockey Patrick Husbands hit the 2,000-win mark when he rode Grazettes Landing to victory in race 10 at Woodbine on Oct. 4. Earlier on the card, Husbands won the featured Durham Cup (Can-III) for trainer Mark Casse, who also trains Grazettes Landing.
Husbands, 36, is a second generation rider who was born in Bridgetown, Barbados. He began riding in Canada at Fort Erie and won his first Woodbine stakes in 1998. Husbands became a Canadian citizen in 2000.
He has four riding titles at Woodbine – 1999, 2000, 2002, 2007 – and has been honored with a Sovereign Award five times. On Aug 16, 2002, Husbands rode five winners at Woodbine, four of which were trained by Casse.
