Horses bred by Mr. and Mrs. Martin J. Wygod won three races on Saturday's card at Del Mar.

The day began well for the owner-breeders when 2-5 favorite Tribal Rule won the track's first race, a six-furlong maiden race. Tribal Rule (Storm Cat--Sown, by Grenfall) completed the distance in 1:08.82 under David Flores.

In the sixth race, 3-year-old filly Smart Start (Deputy Minister--Jones Time Machine, by Current Concept) earned her first win in a 6 1/2-furlong race, winning by 2 1/2 lengths in 1:17.17. Smart Start, like Tribal Rule, was ridden by Flores and is trained for the Wygods by Julio Canani.

In the eighth race, Pursang Corporation and Tango Stable-Verdis Corporation's Mega Gift earned a half-length win in a $20,000 claiming race. 4-year-old Mega Gift (Bertrando--Sound Wisdom, by Pirate's Bounty) was bred in Kentucky by the Wygods and completed the 1 1/16 miles in 1:43.3. He returned $79.60 for the win. Mega Gift is trained by Luis E. Seglin and was ridden by Omar Berrio.
