The third session of the Keeneland September yearling sale got off to a solid start Sept. 16, with a Dynaformer colt bringing the top early price of $610,000.
Produced from the unraced Seeking the Gold mare Stirring, the colt was purchased by Alex Solis II and Litt Racing Venture. The colt, Hip No. 493, was consigned by Claiborne Farm as agent.
Second dam Daijin (by Deputy Minister), is a full sister to Belmont Stakes (gr. I) winner Touch Gold and is the dam of multiple Canadian stakes winner and stakes producer Handpainted and stakes winner Serenading.
Following on the heels of the first two unofficial select sessions of the 14-day marathon sale, during which the average and median were down 30% and 28.3%, respectively, from a year ago, and the buyback rate was 38%, the third session appeared to be off to a solid start.
Of the first 55 horses through the ring, 35 were sold and 20 did not attain their reserve prices.
