Overheard on the backside:
"I just celebrated my 25th anniversary. Three different women, but my 25th
anniversary."

"You'd be proud of me. I found barn 41 and I didn't scare one horse." --Our number one salesman Paul Wasserman

"A lot." --Agent Vic Gilardi's answer to how many stitches Shaun Bridgmohan received

"Hopefully he chose the right one. That's why they call them agents." --Jockey Edgar Prado on agent's decisions

"She trains everyday from 7:30 to 8:15. That's her time slot." --Trainer Rusty Arnold about Test winner Victory Ride's schedule

"She wouldn't talk to me, she just kept saying, 'It's Saratoga. It's Saratoga'." --Jockey Gus Brown on trainer Linda McGrail after her first Saratoga victory

"Everybody wants to win at Saratoga. You know that." --Leah Gyarmati after Top Official won on Wednesday

"Sean's the only guy you can put in a 10 hour day for and still get hell from." --Handicapper Pete Fornatale on a boss in this office

Name of the Day:
Catamaran. 3-year-old colt by Storm Cat out of By Land by Sea.

From the Library:
Ever read Damon Runyon? Here's an ending paragraph from his short story named "The Lacework Kid":

"Well," Kidneyfoot says, "there goes a great artist. He is one of the finest card players I ever see except in gin rummy. It is strange how this simple game baffles all good card players. In fact," Kidneyfoot says, "The Lacework Kid is a rank sucker at gin until I instruct him in one small maneuver that gives you a great advantage, which is to drop any one card to the floor accidentally on purpose."

How about Red Smith?

"For a guy who never met Tony Pelleteri, a surprising lot of memories were revived by the news of that horseman's death in New Orleans. Ordinarily when you read of the passing of a man you didn't know it doesn't mean a great deal, but if the man had horses and you knew them, that was something like the man himself."
