Tracy Farmer’s multiple grade I-winning gelding Commentator arrived Sept. 10 at Mike Evans’ Sheltowee Woodford near Versailles, Ky., which will serve as his temporary home.

Plans are still in the works as to where Commentator will reside long-term, but options being considered include Tracy Farmer’s Shadowlawn Farm near Midway, Ky. and the Kentucky Horse Park.

The 8-year-old chestnut was retired from racing in August after finishing third in the Whitney Handicap (gr. I) at Saratoga, a race he was attempting to win for the third time.

Mike Evans and Todd Fischer of Sheltowee have been the team to oversee many of Commentator’s layup and refreshening stints and will be overseeing him as he becomes acclimated to life after the track.

Commentator developed quite a fan following after returning successfully to the highest levels of racing year after year. The son of Distorted Humor   retired with earnings of $2,029,845 and a record of 24 starts with 14 wins, one second, and four third-place efforts.
