Bessemer Trust Company in conjunction with its sponsorship of the Breeders' Cup World Thoroughbred Championships, will donate 30 spots of national television time to three equine-related charities. The spots represent portion of Bessemer's recently announced sponsorship of Thoroughbred racing's richest day.

Beneficiaries of this portion of Bessemer's television time will be the Grayson-Jockey Club Research Foundation, the Thoroughbred Retirement Foundation, and the North American Riding for the Handicapped Association.

The television spots will appear on CBS, ESPN, and ESPN 2 beginning now and running through October, with the World Thoroughbred Championships will be held Oct. 27 at Belmont Park.

Grayson-Jockey Club provides funding for scientific/veterinary research specifically aimed at improving the health and safety of horses and has contributed some $9 million to more than two-dozen universities in the last two decades.

The Thoroughbred Retirement Foundation operates a network of facilities to care for and arrange for adoption of retired racehorses.

The North American Riding for the Handicapped Association reverses the theme of people helping horses. In this organization, horses help people, providing stimulating and joyful activities for children whose physical conditions preclude participation in many sports and games.
