Former Venezuela Horse of Year Unsuccessful in U.S. Debut

My Own Business, Horse of the Year and champion 3-year-old colt in his native Venezuela last year, finished sixth in his U.S. debut Wednesday at Saratoga. Top Official nosed out Ground Storm for the win, with Bare Outline 4 1/4 lengths farther back in third.
Carrying top weight of 120 pounds and facing six domestic competitors, My Own Business was ridden by John Velazquez for trainer Carlos Morales in the 1 1/8-mile, $57,000 allowance test.
Owned by Hugo Albarran and Rocco Sebastiani, My Own Business had earned the equivalent of $390,873 prior to moving to North America.
The champion 2-year-old male of 1999, My Own Business' victories last year included the Venezuelan Derby.
In his only previous start outside Venezuela, My Own Business won the Clasico Internaciaonal del Caribe in Puerto Rico last year.
