Bloodhorse.com Videos Feature Nerud Interview

(Edited Blood-Horse Publications release)

Bloodhorse.com is now presenting an engaging and entertaining three-part video interview series featuring legendary trainer, owner, and breeder John Nerud, who at age 96 shares keen observations on where racing has been and where its future lies.

The interviews were conducted by Blood-Horse senior correspondent Steve Haskin. Parts I and II are now available for viewing at BloodHorse.com/Videos. Part III will be available for viewing on Friday, Sept. 11.

In Part I, the Hall of Famer talks about the high-profile trainers whose careers he helped start, the need for a national commissioner, the Breeders' Cup, the future of synthetics, and more. In Part II, Nerud reflects on growing up on a Nebraska farm in a family of nine children and riding at country fairs. He also talks about starting out as trainer/exercise rider/groom of his young stable, his big break getting Gallant Man, and the beginning of his long, successful relationship with William McKnight and the building of Tartan Farms.

"I have been friends with John Nerud for many years and it was an honor to just sit with him for over an hour and funnel all that knowledge and wisdom out of him to have for posterity," said Haskin, senior correspondent for The Blood-Horse. "It was reassuring to know while conducting the interview that the genius of John Nerud was going to be shared with the rest of the racing world."
