Grade I winner Shakespeare will stand in 2010 at William C. Schettine’s Signature Stallions near Reddick, Fla. The 8-year-old son of Theatrical stood his two previous years at stud at John Sikura’s Hill ‘n’ Dale Farms near Lexington.
Shakespeare won seven of eight races for Schettine and Dell Ridge Farm. He captured four stakes, including the 2005 Joe Hirsch Turf Classic Invitational Stakes (gr. IT) at Belmont Park and the Belmont Breeders’ Cup Handicap (gr. IIT) and the 2007 Woodbine Mile Stakes (Can-IT). He retired with earnings of $1,293,780.
Shakespeare is out of grade I winner and multiple stakes producer Lady Shirl (by That's a Nice).
He stood his first season for a fee of $20,000. Last year's fee was $10,000.
