Einstein  , the richest North American horse currently in training with more than $2.7-million in purses, will ship to Del Mar on Aug. 31 to compete in Del Mar’s Pacific Classic (gr. I) on Labor Day Sunday, Sept. 6.

The 7-year-old Brazilian-bred horse by Spend a Buck is based in Kentucky in the barn of Helen Pitts, but will be making his second trip west in 2009 for the Classic. In March he triumphed in the Santa Anita Handicap (gr. I) under Julien Leparoux, who will be aboard again at Del Mar.

The $1-million Pacific Classic, Del Mar’s signature race, is run at a 1 1/4 miles. Others expected for the 19th running of the race include West Coast stars Colonel John  , Informed   and Rail Trip.

Einstein, who has won on dirt, turf and synthetic surfaces, shows 11 victories, along with three second and three thirds in 27 lifetime starts for total winnings of $2,703,324.
