MTR Gaming Group (Nasdaq:MNTG) has received permission from the West Virginia Lottery Commission to add 595 slot machines to its casino at Mountaineer Race Track. The new machines will bring Mountaineer's total of video lottery and slot machines to 2,500, a 31% increase.

The commission also voted to expand the hours for video lottery on Sundays, permitting the state's racetracks to open for gaming at 10:00 a.m. instead of 1:00 p.m.

"We are currently on track to open a new 39,000 square foot gaming room in August that will house the new machines," said Edson R. (Ted) Arneault, President and CEO of MTR Gaming Group. "The gaming space and additional slots will enable us to accommodate the increased traffic we have been experiencing as we continue to expand our operations."

MTR Gaming Group is a West Virginia-based corporation that, through subsidiaries, owns and operates Mountaineer Race in Chester, W. Va., the Ramada Inn and Speedway Casino in North Las Vegas, and the Ramada Inn in Reno, Nevada. The Mountaineer complex currently encompasses a Thoroughbred racetrack, including off-track betting and export simulcasting, 1,905 video lottery terminals, a 101-room hotel, golf course, Spa & Fitness Centre, fine dining and entertainment, the Speakeasy Gaming Saloon, and The Harv.
