Peintre Celebre Colt Leads Way at Deauville

A Peintre Celebre–Hayhaat colt brought the highest price of €205,000 ($291,264 in U.S. funds) Aug. 16 on the third day of Arqana’s Deauville yearling sale in France. Agence FIPS purchased the colt from Neustrian Associates.

No fewer than 20 yearlings sold for €100,000 ($142,081) or more apiece.

In all, 76 horses were sold for a gross of €5,929,000 ($8,423,923) and an average price of €78,013 ($110,841). The clearance rate was 73%. Compared to 2008, the gross was down 12.5% and the average fell 6.8%.

The gross for this year’s private sales was €275,000 ($390,720).
