The New York Racing Association announced Aug. 14 that Andrei M.G. Saunders has been appointed by NYRA to its board of directors.
Saunders, 38, is currently a managing director of credit sales at Goldman Sachs & Company. He has been with Goldman Sachs since 1993, serving in a number of different capacities, including vice president of municipal finance and vice president of the firm’s global corporate bond syndicate.
A member of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Visiting Committee, Saunders helps with recruiting for both M.I.T. and Howard University. He also has served on the board of Books for Kids since 2007.
“We are thrilled that Andrei will be joining our board of directors,” said NYRA chairman C. Steven Duncker. “His combination of financial acumen and enthusiasm for the racing industry will be a tremendous asset to the board.”
Saunders was born in Jamaica and moved to Brooklyn, N.Y., in 1973. He graduated from M.I.T. in May 1993 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science and a minor in Psychology. He currently lives in Connecticut with his wife, Carolyn, and their four children.
