After winning consecutive San Diego Handicaps (gr. II), Skimming is prepped for a run at a second straight win in Del Mar's $1-million Pacific Classic (gr. I) Aug. 19.

Expected to join Skimming from the San Diego are runner-up Futural and third-place finisher Captain Steve. Both trainers Craig Dollase and Bob Baffert confirmed Monday morning that their runners would be back for the Classic.

As for who else could be prospects for the Pacific Classic, another Frankel-trainee Euchre could join the mix as well as Redattore, the winner of Eddie Read (gr. IIT); Dixie Dot Com and Smile Again. The only prospect outside Southern California seems to be Guided Tour, who defeated Captain Steve by a half-length in the Stephen Foster Handicap (gr. I) at Churchill Downs. All would carry 124 pounds in the Pacific Classic.
