The last of four programs in the NTRA Champions series on CBS earned an overnight rating of 1.1 and captured 3% of the viewing audience. The program featured the Whitney Handicap (gr. I) and the Arlington Handicap (gr. IIT).

A direct program-to-program comparison with last year's series is not possible because the number of programs and number of races is substantially different. Last year, Fox telecast five grade I races on five separate days, while this year's series was 11 races spread over four programs.

Overall, the two series received the same attention from sports fans. The CBS series' first three programs earned a combined 1.1 rating and a 3% market share, which was identical to the combined ratings for the Fox series.

The final television rating was to be available August 2. Each rating point represents 1,022,000 households.
