Venezuela's Top Horse Makes U.S. Debut

My Own Business, Horse of the Year and champion 3-year-old colt in his native Venezuela last year, makes his U.S. debut Wednesday in the seventh race at Saratoga. Carrying top weight of 120 pounds and facing six domestic competitors, My Own Business will be ridden by John Velazquez for trainer Carlos Morales in the 1 1/8-mile, $57,000 allowance test.
The 4-year-old son of Voyageur--Word Medley (by Verbatim) has 19 victories and three placings to his credit in 23 career starts.
Owned by Hugo Albarran and Rocco Sebastiani, My Own Business has earned the equivalent of $390,873 during his career. The champion 2-year-old male of 1999, My Own Business' victories last year included the Venezuelan Derby. In his only previous start outside Venezuela, My Own Business won the Clasico Internaciaonal del Caribe in Puerto Rico last year.
