Dubai champion Victory Moon was euthanized July 26 after fracturing a hind leg in his stall, according to racingweb.co.za. The son of Al Mufti stood at Dr. W. Andreas Jacobs’ Maine Chance Farms in South Africa.
“We found him at 4:00 p.m.,” said stud manager John Slade. “We’re not sure exactly what happened, but the injury to his leg was a long fracture consistent with horses getting up from the floor of their barns. They get up in an awkward way, which can lead to a leg snapping.”
Victory Moon was bred in South Africa by Litchfield Stud Closed Corporation and foaled in 1999. He won or placed in six stakes in Dubai. In 2004, he finished third to Pleasantly Perfect and Medaglia d’Oro In the Emirates Airline Dubai World Cup (UAE-I).
Victory Moon, out of the winning Dancing Champ mare Dancing Flower, won or placed in 10 of 13 races and earned $2,414,974 in his career. He raced for Mad Syndicate and was trained by Mike de Kock.
Victory Moon is represented by several winners from his first crop, including South African group winner Nocturnal Affair.
