Swaps Stakes (gr. I) winner Congaree will make his next start in Saturday's $600,000 Jim Dandy Stakes (gr. I), according to Saratoga racing secretary Mike Lakow. The Jim Dandy is the local 1 1/8-mile prep race for the $1-million Travers Stakes (gr. I) and will be run as a grade I event for the first time this year.
Congaree, the third-place finisher in both the Kentucky Derby (gr. I) and Preakness Stakes (gr. I), is a 3-year-old son of Arazi trained by Bob Baffert, who will saddle Preakness and Belmont Stakes (gr. I) winner Point Given in the Haskell Invitational (gr. I) at Monmouth Park Aug. 5. Stonerside Stable's Congaree has won four of seven career starts, including the Wood Memorial (gr. II).
Others likely for the Jim Dandy include A P Valentine, Express Tour, Griffinite, and Windsor Castle. Dollar Bill and Buckle Down Ben are possible.
