Edited Associated Press report

Mark Allen, the co-owner of Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands (gr. I) winner Mine That Bird, said the gelding will appear in New Mexico in September.

The Associated Press reported Mine That Bird (by Birdstone  ) will lead the post parade for the $2-million All American Futurity Sept. 7 at Ruidoso Downs.

Both Allen and co-owner Dr. Leonard Blach reside in New Mexico, and Mine That Bird made two starts in the state at Sunland Park before embarking on the Triple Crown trail.

In additon to the Derby, he ran second in the BlackBerry Preakness (gr. I) and third in the Belmont Stakes (gr. I).

Allen said Mine That Bird's appearance is a way to express thanks to the New Mexico racing community for support. He said fans "deserve to see" the 3-year-old gelding who won the Derby as a 50-1 longshot.

Mine That Bird is scheduled to run next in the $750,000 West Virginia Derby (gr. II) Aug.1, and then the $1-million Travers Stakes (gr. I) at Saratoga Aug. 29.

After that, he will be at Ruidoso Downs, followed by a viewing at Allen's Double Eagle Ranch.
