Joe Bravo Breaks Leg in Monmouth Park Spill
Joe Bravo, leading rider at Monmouth Park, suffered a broken leg after being thrown from his mount king of spain shortly after the start of the fifth race at Monmouth Friday. He was taken to Monmouth Medical Center where he'll undergo surgery on Sunday."He broke his tibia in two places and his fibula in two places, both in his left leg," said Danny Mellul, agent for Bravo, who was with him at the hospital.Just before leaving the chute in the mile and an eighth turf race, Bravo was unseated by King of Spain.Through Thursday's racing card, Bravo was atop the jockey's standings with 49 winners from 250 starts and was seeking his ninth Monmouth riding title.
