Cape Town, who has stood his entire career at Overbrook Farm near Lexington, has been sold for stallion duty in Brazil. He will stand at Haras Phillipson outside Sao Paulo near Americana.

Fourteen-year-old Cape Town (Seeking the Gold--Seaside Attraction, by Seattle Slew) has sired 16 stakes winners, including 2003 champion 3-year-old filly and Kentucky Oaks (gr. I) winner Bird Town. Cape Town has sired five other graded winners.

Cape Town raced as a homebred for the late Overbrook founder William T. Young. As a 3-year-old, Cape Town won the 1998 Florida Derby (gr. I) and the Holy Bull Stakes (gr. III) and ran third in the Toyota Blue Grass Stakes (gr. I) and fifth in the Kentucky Derby (gr. I).

Cape Town is the third Overbrook stallion sold as part of the farm’s dispersal of stock. The sole remaining active stallion at Overbrook is 1996 Kentucky Derby winner Grindstone.
