Keeneland Catalogs 4,483 for September Sale

Keeneland has announced it will catalog 4,483 horses for its 13-day September Yearling Sale. That total includes 2,372 colts, 2,110 fillies, and one gelding.

The auction begins Monday, September 10 and runs through Saturday, September 22. Sessions get underway each day at 10a.m. eastern time.

The late Mr. Prospector's last foal crop will be well represented at the sale, as 13 of his colts and 10 fillies are included. Other prominent sires with offspring for sale include Storm Cat, A.P. Indy, Danzig, Nureyev, Saint Ballado, Seattle Slew, Seeking the Gold, and Unbridled. Leading freshmen sires represented include Awesome Again, Grand Slam, Coronado's Quest, Swain, and Skip Away.

Last year's Keeneland September Sale set records for highest gross ($291,827,100), average price per horse ($88,085), and number of horses sold (3,313).

Notable September Sale graduates include three Breeders' Cup winners from last year, Caressing, Kona Gold, and Spain. Lemon Drop Kid, Albert the Great, El Corredor, and Millennium Wind also came out of the auction.
