Jockey Shaun Bridgmohan could be sidelined for as long as six weeks after suffering a compression fracture in a vertebra, according to the Louisville Courier-Journal. He was injured when a 2-year-old he was working July 6 at Churchill Downs broke down after the wire.
Bridgmohan, who was taken to Norton Audubon Hospital in Louisville, Ky., said he will be wearing a body brace at least until he goes back for additional X-rays in a couple of weeks to make sure the injury is healing properly, the Courier-Journal reported.
Bridgmohan also sustained a concussion in the mishap. He finished fifth in the rider standings during the recently concluded Churchill meeting with 41 wins.
