Street Hero , who stood his first season at Dr. Tom Simon’s Vinery in Kentucky this year, will shuttle to Tony Santic’s Makybe in Victoria, Australia for the upcoming Southern Hemisphere breeding season. Scott Holcombe, stud manager for Makybe, said the farm has purchased an interest in the grade I-winning son of Street Cry produced from the graded stakes-winning Summer Squall mare Squall Linda.
“Street Hero was a very talented racehorse, he’s an attractive individual and from a good family,” said Vinery general manager Tom Ludt. “You add the international appeal of Street Cry to the mix, and we think this could be a very good opportunity for this young stallion.”
Rated fourth on the 2008 Experimental Free Handicap, Street Hero won or placed in all of his six starts for breeder-owner-trainer Myung Kwon Cho and earned $419,360. He won the Norfolk Stakes (gr. I) over eventual champion Midshipman and finished third in the Del Mar Futurity (gr. I) and Bessemer Trust Breeders’ Cup Juvenile (gr. I).
