(Edited Fasig-Tipton press release)
Fasig-Tipton will host a five-kilometer (5K) race and a one-mile “fun run” Aug. 15 in Saratoga Springs, N.Y. Both events will start in front of the auction firm’s Humphrey S. Finney Pavilion. All proceeds will be divided equally among the New York Racing Association’s four charities: The Anna House, Backstretch Employee Service Team, New York Racetrack Chaplaincy, and The Backstretch Education Fund.
Registration for both races will begin at 7 a.m. (EDT). The one-mile “fun run” will start at 7:30 a.m., and the 5K (3.1 miles) race will begin at 8 a.m. The 5K route will loop around Union Avenue to Henning, giving runners the opportunity to see Fasig-Tipton’s newly renovated sale grounds, enjoy a view of the Saratoga Race Course grandstand, and see parts of the Oklahoma Training Track and the barn area. There will be refreshments and entertainment, and awards will be presented to the top runners in each age group immediately following the race.
"Fasig-Tipton is very excited about this event," said Fasig-Tipton President Boyd Browning. "We are becoming more involved with the community of Saratoga and we are pleased to be able to help support the backstretch employees who make horse racing possible. Many local businesses and farms of New York have jumped on board to help sponsor the race with us."
