Dr. James Smith, a semi-retired equine veterinatian, was recently appointed to the board of directors for Horses and Humans Research Foundation. The foundation, headquartered in Cleveland Ohio, seeks to support research which will improve the quality of equine-assisted activities for people struggling with disabilities.
“I am devoting much of my time to equine assisted activities now and want to see good basic research being carried out.” Smith said in a statement from HHRF.
After 46 years, he is semi-retired from Hagyard-Davidson-McGee in Lexington. Smith is active member of both the veterinary and civic communities through teaching, speaking and holding positions in local government and veterinary organizations. Smith and his family have owned and raised Thoroughbred horses since 1978.
